you win an auction and its been 2 weeks. the seller still hasn't shipped the item won. You try contacting the seller and they dont reply to any of your emails. You use a different address they answer and you tell them who it is and they stop replying. This is hppening to me right now on 2 auctions. I bought a 260 gallon reptarium Nov. 16 and it still hasn't arrived and it is northern california and im southern. (3 hours drive) and a MVB last wednsday and it still hasn't arrived. Emails have been sent to both sellers and they ignore you. the problem is I already paid for both items. what can i do to get my money back or the item i paid for

Might wanna tell us what kind of auction it was dude.

Was it eBay?

If it was, keep looking for a phone number, they seem to work best. Click any links that say "other items this person is selling" or something along those lines. Look there for numbers if there isn't one on the page for the item you bought.

If they ignore phone calls then i think you can contact eBay and complain, and be sure to leave some negative feedback for the seller.

The above post is correct. If it was ReptiBid, you can do the same thing.

one was ebay one was reptibid. the one from reptibid isnt selling anything now and i think they deleted there account. Is there a place called habitats pet store.

If you paid with a credit card I'd call and tell the c.c. comp. Using c.c.'s are the best way to protect yourself from this, your c.c. company usually will refund your money, and if they feel like it go after the person you got/didn't get products from...

I payed with paypal and a money order. My cage is from reptile haven and tomorrow Im gonna go talk to Chris. but my other one is from habitats pet store which is in virginia so i guess i just lost 43$ until I can find a phone number

...I gave you info for paypal and how to contact the seller via ebay - you have recourse. If the Zhris is Chris Estep I have bought cages thru him and found him to be prompt and honest

it is chris estep. his auction ended Nov. 16. sent him a money order which he got the next week and said he would ship it out ASAP but it stll isnt here.im in southern california and hes in norhtern california.its a 2.5 hour drive.Im gonna call tomorrow cause hes not open today.

Reptile Haven(Chris)is in San Diego not in northern California. I've bought several cages from Chris and he has personally delivered them to me(I live 90 miles north of him). Bulbs through Chris are another story. I ordered a case of a 48" 5.0 through him for what would have been a great price. I made sure he was ordering the right bulbs for me and assured me they were the 5.0 It turned out the bulbs were a diferent brand and not at all what I wanted. I ended up ordering through someone else for the same price I had negotiated originally.

So you going to drive to Norcal to go see him? I don't understand were you got he was in Norcal. At any rate you waited this long to get a reptarium, I think you should have waited till the Pomona show and just picked something up there. Pomiona is only 15 minutes from you if you go the right direction. lol

I would show up on their door step unannounced with a 2X4 and politel ask them for the items.

I can't help you out with the repti-bid but as for e-bay this is what you need to do...

If you paid with paypal file a complaint within 30 days of auction close and contact with seller.

If you paid directly with a credit card contact your cc company and put it into dispute so it will at least be on hold (ask cc co. for pariculars)

You can also get he sellers direct info (address and phone number) when you request it the seller is also notified andgets your info, too.

Okay lele. i filed a complaint on paypal for my mvbulb. hopefully i get the bulb or money soon so i can get another one. As for chris estep i have to call him tomorrow because he is closed today i think. he won't answer any of my emails and he wont give me tracking number or even tell me if he sent the cage yet and i ordered it november 16. anyways, thankyou for your help

FYI... Paypal is actually very little help.
Recently we made purchases through Kingsnake ads and used Paypal for payment. On three occassions we did not get what was paid for - and on one of those purchases, we got only half the shipment.

We contacted Paypal (on the phone, more than once). We were told that "if the seller shipped you ANYTHING, there is nothing we can do". When I asked if this included an empty box, the response was "if the seller can show proof of shipping - that is all we need and we cannot reverse the payment".

We contacted Visa on one issue, and were told we would have to wait 30 days to see what Paypal would do - no way around it.

This is a bowl of spaghetti for sure. We contacted a bureau for Internet Fraud and were told to use Postal Money Orders. It is a federal offense to defraud someone when paid with one of those.

So... what good does it do to get the seller's info? We have the name; physical address; phone number; and email for one person. They cancelled their email account the day following the payment, and use an answering machine to screen phone calls. That leaves us with a handful of nothing tangible..!!!!

If anyone has a PROVEN method of getting money returned or goods delivered after being defrauded, let's hear about it.

One thing is for sure - there are sharks in the waters...

I have heard mixed things about paypal but most of it was old and supposedly they cleaned up their act. I recently won an auction on ebay for a book and when I got it the condition was not quite as described. I contacted the seller and she said she would take it back but we had to file a dispute with paypal. It went quite smooth all the way around. As for seller contact I also had a good result. But you are right - there are many sharks in the water and we do take a chance when ordering online especially from someone we don't know so I always try to get some feedback ahead of time. On ebay or half.com I check the seller's feedback. I just paid $1 more for a book on half b/c the cheaper person had too many negatives in recent months - not that $1 is much, but you get my point
