Wondering about maturing colors....

lazandlouie Dec 04, 2004 02:21 AM

Just a quick one this time. When does a crested geckos color remain a permanent one. I know theres an active and dull state. But when they are young you cant tell. How long does it take until you can tell for sure? Once again You guys are AWESOME!!

even when they're adults they can still have a dull tone rather than a bright one sometimes. it all just depends on temperature and time of day/activity. atleast in my experience just about everytime you take one out and handle it for 10 or 15 minutes they'll start to color up pretty well. i believe most breeders say they can't tell the full potential until 4-6 months. i have 2 4 months from anthony, one that's bright all the time, and another that comes and goes.

They won't ever be just one color. there is an active and dull state, and I realize that you already understand this, but their true adult color will take over so gradually that you won't even notice the difference, so I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it.
