Why does my AFT keep knocking over/turning upside down his humid hide?

EBC Dec 04, 2004 08:56 AM

Recently my stubborn AFT that won't eat yet has started knocking over or turning upside down his humid hide at night (it's made of one of those disposable gladware tupperware thingies). The last 4 nights he's done this, but he didn't do it the first two weeks I had him. He's also rarely going into the hide during the day now, he used to spend all his time in it. At first I thought maybe the crickets were getting in and annoying him, so last night I didn't put any crickets in, since he wasn't eating anyway. Sure enough, the hide was toppled on it's side this morning. It's not a big deal, I can just turn it back over, but I'm curious as to why he might be doing this all of a sudden and if anybody else's geckos do it.

I have one gecko that rampages his home everytime he sheds. Things flipped over and nothing is in its origional place. I also have a female thats flips hides all the time, I believe shes just being active and climbing around at night. Possibly you may want a lower profile more stable hide that won't tip as easy.

I thought maybe he was trying to tell me that he didn't like his furniture where it was...good to know he's getting active at night though, hopefully that means he's settling in and will eat soon!
