Well females get pretty big but the size of a basketball would be very rare.. Ive seen one 8" long, it was a 4-5 year old female at a exotic pet store in my city. Really just feed them a proper diet, you really cant power feed them like snakes because it will make them overweight and very unhealthy for the frog.
It was a wild animal from oswego county NY..I just posted it b/c there are not a lot of pics of em on here...sorry if It angered you

oops I meant to post this farther down sorry
The largest species og horned frog are the female brazilian horned frogs which are illegal to export from brazil. The get about 9" snout/vent. I have seen a couple between 6 and 7". Mine is about 5" which is still really big considering she is only 3 years old. That's a full grown male mouse!

Nice frog
Where did you see the Brazilian Hornedfrogs?
-----
I have seen brazilian horned frogs in books and on the net
Years ago (almost 18 years ago) I had a pair of females dropped off in the pet store where I worked part-time (everthing at cost was the deal to get me to work there) and the one female was large enough that she filled one end of a ten gallon tank. I fed her one small rat a month.
When they are juveniles and growing rapidly they can be fed high calorie foods to maximize growth and size but this cannot continue when they reach maturity.
If you want to see maximal growth use livebearers like mollies and sworttails as a daily food item along with the occasional pink when the frog is a little larger.
