Finally Kachina layed 7 eggs, all infertile , but I'm Happy >

she layed , I was getting a bit worried about her being possibly eggbound, as she was very firm, and I knew she had eggs. But was showing no signs off laying.

The last few days I knew something was about to happen, she was not coming out at all, which is totally NOT her. So I was checking on her alot.

Finally, she appeared, and was noticably thinner. So I knew she would be fine. The eggs I have thought all along would not be good. As it was later in the season and I had not seen her mate.

As long as my girl is back to herself, thats whats
important!

That's a relief! I hope she's back to being her old self now.

I am curious how you can tell that the eggs are infertile?

tend to be very squishy or spongey, without much firmness to them. Some fertile eggs are a bit soft right after being layed but tend to harden up or firm up shortly after.

When you get them in the incubator and have the proper amount of moistness they plump up and stay firm, until the time of haching.

Also infertile eggs seem to be clearish when held to the light. A fertile egg you can usually see a pink spot

Kachinas where very squishy , like a water ballon not completely filled.
