HI all,
Out herping yesterday in Spring Valley, CA - found a SD coast HL - cool. Today in the same spot - Adult female Texas horned lizard! Lester, you may be hearing from me depending on the situation.
A released captive? Very interesting, at this time female Texas Horned Lizards are gravid. They have actually been bred with coast horned lizards in captivity. It is sometimes difficult to tell female Texas Horned Lizards because the post anal scales of the males are only slightly larger. I wonder if their would have been little Coronatum X Cornutum running around? Jeff
:Hello Jeff. Jeff Lemm knows HLs very well. He can give a positive ID without problems. Probably was an illegal captive and released. Lester G. Milroy III
:Hello Jeff Lemm. Good to hear from you! Thought you may have moved to Australia and gone to work with Steve Irwin
Sabrina was asking about you day before yesterday. Interesting that you would find a THL in California. Someone must have done something illegal and released it. Had a person from El Centro also find a Regal there last year. Did you get pics or capture the visitor? Lester G. Milroy III
Hi Lester,
Good to hear from you. Glad to hear you're doing some tracking, etc. We're tracking rubers now and finished rosy tracking. Doing alot of pit-trapping these days. The animal is at the zoo and I have pics too. Talk to you soon,
Jeff
Say hello to the girls and let them know I'm a dad now (Matthias - 6 mos.). Also, tell Sabrina to watch Croc Hunter diaries today and she may see me. OZ was awesome - got 13 Moloch on one trip!
:Congrats to you DAD
Hope your "better half" is well too. Sounds like a lot of fun tracking rubers. Is Tracy still working at the zoo too? It will be interesting to see the THL. What was the SVL and weight on capture? Did you get some good pics of the Molocks too? Sure would like to see some of those pics from OZ. I will let Sabrina and Kim both know about your new addition. Take care. Talk to you soon. Lester G. Milroy III
