I think that Elaphe Dione a very "Rare" ratsnake is, maybe more peoples have coxi than dione. Is is a very nice and lovely snake and is very active at daytime. Also this snake is not expencive. My dad and I have some of this nice species and a lot of variations like black and red to yellow and orange. We like to breed with this nice species and I hope you will think about it and buy some of this nice species (but it is hardly availible). You can always mail me about questions or say it to good people here on kingsnake.

p.s. Take a look at my dad and my site www.elaphedione.com

I've visited it before. Congratulations

Well there are a few questions that go along with this.
What is your experience with snakes? What size are you looking for? What tempermant do you want?
When I got my first snake, I didn't want one that everyone had...like a corn or such. I started off with a licorice stick black ratsnake. Very docile, she's never even attempted to bite me, or taken an agressive stance. Then I got a black rat snake, which holds the genes to produce licorice sticks - in case i ever felt like trying to mate them.

Then I fell in love with jimmy's (draybar) texas bairdi ratsnakes. Got a pair of 'em.

I had always loved the blue beauties but didnt ever get one because I knew they were hard to control. I figured I had enough experience to get one.

None of these (except the black ratsnake) are extremly common. My texas bairdis were the cheapest, at 25 bucks each. My yearling black rat was 35, blue beauty 65, and licorice stick yearling 125. I'd reccomend any of them for a first snake (except the blue beauty.)
