something very wrong with beardie---Please help!!

reamk924 Dec 05, 2004 08:16 AM

I have a juvie beardie that was holding her head up at a 90 degree angle to her body day before yesterday for some reason. She couldn't seem to put it down. She was fine yesterday so I thought it was a fluke. Today she is doing it again. To me it looks like a neurologic or breathing problem, but I'm not sure. I would take her to the emergency vet, but this one does not know anything about reptiles. I am very worried about her!!

What is his setup like? Do you have the proper uvb producing bulb? Providing suppliments (multi-vit and calcium with D3)? Heating, etc?

From the description you have given so far, it sounds similar to what dragons do when affected with Stargazer's disease. It's cause is usually a vitamine/mineral deficiency or neurological problem. To learn more about it, try doing a search here on stargazer's disease. I will also look around for another vet more knowledgeable about reptiles.
