What Are Your Guys Opinions On Silk Worms

pyrodragon Jul 01, 2003 11:44 PM

I have fed silk worms to my dragons before but was wondering if they could take the place of crickets. Do crickets have more nutritional value than silk worms? Thanks,

Robert

from what i've heard, silkworms are the most nutrious. Using silkworms as a staple diet...dats is going to cost a lot! $$ lol.

They are the best, i feed them out to my dragons, they are soft bodied and very high in calcium =)

from what ive read from some breeders if you feed the hatchlings crix until they are about 8 inches then train them to eat silkies as a staple they grow extreamly fat and healthy because they dont have the diseasies that can be carried by crix

silkworms are very nutricious and great for your bearded dragons (heck good for most reptiles). Though silk worms cost a bit more than crickets, in fact in the long run they are cheaper as they last longer (well worse thing that could happen is they go into a cocoon...but then again if you want to breed your own..not a bad thing). About 3 or 4 mid sized silkworms is equivalent to abuot 10-12 crickets so you are getting almost three times the food for the price.
