Hi,
I have been feeding my guys papaya more now than any other fruit. They LOVE it! The only problem I have with is it spoils fast. I got three papayas and tried to store them in different ways. The first I left whole on the kitchen counter. The second I cleaned out and froze. The third I left whole and cut it up at I needed and stored it in the fridge. The whole one, somehow, did the worst. I went to cut some off, and it way covered in spots of mold. Also, the fruit smelled like cat piss. The one I froze fared very well. The lizards seem to like it ok, though it is a little mushy. Also, I am not sure if there is a lot of nurtients lost when it is frozen. I know B-12 leeches out, but I sprinkle a little of that on their food occasionally. The third fared ok, but ut got mushy and covered in spots of mold. What does everybody do with their papaya(and mango)? Papaya is not always available at the grocery store, so I want to make sure I can store it. Can it be canned? And if so, can you can it in something other than corn syrup? THanks, jrbl
