Please Help, feeding problems with my turtle!

catnipcutie Dec 05, 2004 07:32 PM

Hi everyone. I have one regular red ear slider who seems to be eating very well, and I also have a two headed red ear. However the two headed doesn't seem to be really eating. I've tried reptomin, small crickets (alive and dead), raw shrimp, and some ramane lettuce, but he doesn't seem to be really eating at all. I know he has eaten a little bit of reptomin, but that's about it and even that wasn't very much. Can anyone help with suggestions on what to give him?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the problem may be that the he is a two headed turtle. Many just steadily fail until they die. What are your water temps, basking area temps and what kind of setup do you have for him. All this may not matter though as he just may not be slated for survival.

Thanks for the responce. I've been told that he might not live. That many don't. I can only hope right? He has been very active the last couple days though.

Right now the water temp is a steady 78, and air about 75. The basking area temp is roughly bewteen 75-80. Is this right?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

if it is a newborn turtle (under an inch or two) then it likes warmer temps, probably around low 80s for the water and high 80s for the basking spot! hopefully this perks the little guy up!!

Water temp. is just fine. Increase the basking temp to around 85 degrees.
