Question about leo eggs

geckobill2112 Dec 05, 2004 09:41 PM

I have some eggs in the incubator the oldest ones were laid on Nov. 12 when I tried candeling them I was not able to see any development should I be able to see anything other then a pink glow at this time. Also they look like they may be getting bigger that should happen if they are viable correct. Any answers would help I have not been successfull with any of my other eggs as of yet I think it may be my male????
Thanks in advance for the Help
Bill

when I candle I can never see any thing really, which is what you want. If they are really light they are probably infertale but if they are a dark yellow more than likley they are fertile. I guess its not that reliable though.

You've got it right. At this point you want to see the egg look pink to red when candled. Later on it will be almost impossible to see the developing gecko. In dragons you can see the head and tails but leo eggs usually just get too dark to see through. SInce the eggs are pink it's not your male (or your female). Pink eggs mean fertile, yellow are infertile (but it can take a week or so for the pink color to develop). So now just keep that humidity good and fingers crossed. Try not to play wiht the eggs too much. Oh, yes you're right they should get bigger in the first few weeks. Good luck with them.

John
