The pair of dragons that Chris gave me after all that bad luck I had with the adeno will begin breeding next month. The male is a zillafroggy X redflame/sandfire red and the female is the red X orange cross he did before he retired to the country... :0)
Puffy is already proven as i sold him to a good friend here in Tulsa who bred him to an orange sandfire and those babies turned out awesome so far and haven't even been through their first shed yet... very red for the most part right out of the egg! He is over 20" and i don't know what he weighs but he is FAT!! I just bought him back from her this past week.... and of course I get first pick or two or you know... maybe 4 from the clutches... hehe....
Jenny is at 16.5" but she has a fairly good sized tail nip I'd say at least 1 to 1.5" and she is FAT too. When I got her she wasn't that colorfull at all but my god... did that change... She is very nice!!! she looks like Mommy all the time and Daddy when she fires up.....
Can't wait till these guys start popping out... SHould prove to be a very nice cross as these guys grew super fast to a good size and weight! I'm going to uthenize one of the less desirable babies and have him tested for adeno so that there will be no question and i can guarantee that my dragons are 100% adeno virus free and hopefully put that chapter to rest finally as far as concern about the health of any of my dragons.
Since this pair was a gift from Chris i'm going to put the pick of the clutch male (best size and color) from each clutch up for auction and donate Half of the money to Veronica at beautiful dragons for her rescue/website costs.... I just love her to pieces... she really did an awesome thing there... and the other half to the emergency vet fund for people who have emergencys and can't afford it. I figure that paying it forward is the least I can do for what it meant to me and the kids that he did that for us after what happened with the adeno. You really would have had to see to believe what a positive effect that his generosity had on the kids.... They were so heartbroken that all the lizards died... Puffy and Jenny really meant alot to us!
Thanks a million Chris!!! Miss you here in beardie land!
Later,
Robert
