reptiledepot.com reliability?

dragunzfyre Dec 06, 2004 01:42 AM

I've been looking for a good deal on a setup for a young veiled chameleon and found what looks to be a pretty good deal at reptiledepot.com. It comes with a standard size tall screen cage.....18X18X30 I believe, lighting and a couple other little things for under 100 bucks. This seems great, but does anyone have experience with these cages and/or reptiledepot.com? I assume they're a good place to buy from, but would like to hear from someone with personal experience. Thanks.

Im my personal opinion, It would be pointless and redudndant for everybody to express what they feel about RD, because it has been done too many times on this board. Do a search above on RD, and you will see a whole lot of disgruntled people. Also, follow this link and do a search on the Board Of inquiry. You'd have to create a username to use the site though, but it will help u a lot.

Yeah, a search would turn up lots of interesting info - but I can't pass up the oppurtunity to comment on their GREAT customer service and EXPEDIENT shipping (note the sarcasm). Frankly, I don't know how the place stays in business. Online orders take multiple weeks to ship. When you call, you can talk to no one who can help you, and no phone call is ever returned. No shipping info is ever sent upon request. The only way I was able to get a refund was by confronting the guy at a show, and showing him all the paperwork (emails sent, complaints, etc.). He of course said it was a problem with the billing office, but I was willing to get things at the show to cover the refund cost. If he had truly sent the info to the billing department for a refund weeks ago as he stated, why would he take the risk of giving me my money back twice? They are very untrustworthy people, and there are much better places to conduct business.

Wow, I'm glad i decided to ask then. I guess i didn't think to search for that on the forum, because it seemed like reptiledepot.com would be a trustworthy site to make a purchase. Thanks for all your input, i think i'll be doing business with LLL after all the bad things about RD. Thanks again for your help.

LLL is the way to go. I don't order animals. I'm a breeder, not a petstore. But all the dry goods I've ordered from them have arrived here without any problems.

Actually, there shipping and reliability may be two diff things. I just bought a 10 week old panther from them and a used 29x16x15 cage(for 40 bux used). They have great prices but possibly a bad online order system(never ordered online-but i went down to the actual store). For online ordering, nothing beats LLL(if your near socal). For the amount of reptiles they sell, i must say, there store is not very big at all. All in all, they seam to know what their doing. Some of their prices are unbeatable and they have pretty healthy animals to boot.
