it's a good question and fortunately the answer is no.Strangely though when i did have a guard over the spots,the collards used to climb it until they were right below the spots-needless to say this worried me especially when my little sonoran female's nose started to go a strange brown.So off came the guard and they haven't even attempted to climb up.
