I recently bought my first variable kingsnake and was wondering if anyone could tell me "roughly" its age by its length?it is 26" long and about 3" circumference.also what is the "best" substrate to use,I'm looking for something to use that he can't bury himself in.any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

It's impossible to say for sure what the age of your snake is based on it's size, but I would guess that it is about two years old. I have 2, two year olds. One is around 26" and one is about 30". Most adult variable kings are closer to 36", so I would guess yours is PROBABLY a juvenile.
