What are these and was this a good deal? PICS

JDouglas Dec 06, 2004 02:40 PM

I purchased a few geckos from a pet store. The store new very little about what kind they were. I did some research to determine what they are and could use your help to see if I am correct. I was wondering what morph they are and if I got a good deal.

I think this one is a Rainwater albino and a Patternless. I paid $19.95 each...

I think this is an abberant normal that I paid $19.95 for...

I got a few like this that I think are patternless for $19.95 each...

Let me know if I named these correctly and if I got a good deal.

Yes those are patternless, but I'm not sure about the albino. It looks like a Tremper to me, but it's hard to tell without knowing their genetic background. The aberrant normal of your looks like it might be a tangerine, it's color is a very bright orange. Again it is hard to tell at this age, it could go either way. That was a great deal. The cheapest I've seen an albino for is about $40. One that light would probably go for a bit more. I've seen patternless for about $50, and if yours turn out real light, they will definately go for more than that. A tangerine can be as high as $200. (keep your figures crossed that it becomes a tangerine.) I recently bought a Super Hypo Tangerine Baldy at a petco for $19.95, when I've seen them for as much as $500. (though mines not quite that nice.) The point is, if you have a good quality PetCo near you, they are a GREAT place to find amazing Leos! Keep us updated with pics as they get older. Good luck, and great deal.

#1 Tremper albino, and pattenless
Two things give this one away as a tremper and not a vegas. Most certain is the eyes are sensitive to light (he's squinting) and trempers are far more light sensitive than vegas. Also, the color of the pinkish parts is more tremper than vegas, just not purple enough.

#2 This one looks to be a hypo tangerine..you did good here its head is fairly spottless and I think if you can fatten him up you'll have a very nice leo.

#3 correct

I did get these at Petco. They will have a new shipment coming in on Friday and I will stop by and get a few more. I will post a few pics here if I find anything interesting.

If you go back on the day the shipment is supposed to arrive ask them who they get their geckos from. You might be surprised.
