Need information regarding exotic "pets"

I am currently a student at a university in Chicago and my final is a research paper. I am arguing why private owners should be permitted to house exotic pets. I would like to clarrify any kind of exotic pets and I need enough information and ideas to support an 8 page paper. Any books, websites, articles, etc. available would be appreciated. Thank you
