I haven't had time to come to the forums in a while, but was shocked today when I did. I can't believe that they used my leopard gecko picture at the top of the forum page, I think that is great! The new forums will take some getting use to, very different.

This is actually one of the cooler things that we can do on these new forums is the ability to showcase member photos on the forum pages without having to submit stuff to the techs and have to wait for them to find the time to manually enter the info and reupload the files to the site and all that in between their other work stuff. Now I can just go in, enter the info and the system updates the page for me automatically...no need to go through the techs at all <g>.

For the sake of the re-launching of the new forums I just did a quick scouring of the k.com photo galleries finding photos that looked nice or interesting and which matched the nature of the various forums.

Since this is now something very easy to do and takes hardly any time, the moderators are seriously considering holding fun little informal 'photo contests' for the members every few weeks with the winner getting their photo put up on the forum in question until the next contest rolls around. This way we can rotate photos on a semi-regular basis and keep things interesting

Once we get the ground rules down on paper and such, we'll post more info on the contests and how they will be held and judged and all that.
