Breeding

cdunlap Dec 06, 2004 05:15 PM

In one setup I have one male and 4 females, of course all are of breeding age and all their weights are above what people tell me they should be at.
In another setup I have one male and one huge female; he weights over 50 grams and she is 65 grams; so they both are fine.
In each setup there is a container with 'bed-a-beast' in it, which I moisten regularly.
In the first set up most of them have been together since a month before Tinley, and in the second setup they have been together a couple of days after Tinley.
Yet none have laid eggs, this concerns me and also puzzles me, and makes me ask myself what am I doing wrong.
Can someone please try to help me shed some light on this problem?

Thank you
Chris Dunlap

how many days has it been since you put them together? you should be able to see/feel eggs in the gravid females after 15-20 days after copulation. i usually separate my females when i know one is gravid that way i know which one the eggs came from.
if none of the 4 females are gravid then maybe you need a new male. or you need to give us some more info on the set up so we may be able to tell you where your error is.

I believe Tinley was in October, so there has been plenty of time for all of them to breed.

My rack isn't completed yet for my adults, so the 4 females and one male are kept in a 32 gallon high tank, the temp is between 77-82 degrees.

And the male with a lone female is in a 63qt tote that is kept at around the same temp as the other setup.

The one male that is with the lone female is a proven breeder and I was told that the lone female has had one clutch as well.

In the set up with 4 females and one male, none of them are proven.

are they getting a good amount of calcium? i believe the females wont produce eggs if they are calcium deprived. not implying neglect, just trying to cover all the bases. good luck

They get baby food with Gargoyle diet mixed in, left in for two days - I add a little more on the second day to stop any mold, then they get crickets heavly dusted with the leopard gecko dust.

I should add that this is repeated all week long so they are never out of food.
They also get misted every night.
