cage for dums

i'm thinking of getting a few new cages would a 48" long, 24" deep front to back and 17.5" tall work or should i go bigger.

That should be plenty! That size will probably seem too large for most males, and even some females. Also, the height you listed definitely makes cleaning easier, but you could also look into the cages that are 12" and 14" high and have no problems if your concerned with space at all. Make sure to put up pics of the new set up when your all done. It's always cool to see how other people are doing things. Take care
