Super Worm Beetles.....

Kraid_ZM Dec 06, 2004 09:55 PM

I had been feeding my Horned Frog Super Worms, and after having the same container for several weeks, I noticed that one of the Worms pupated. I decided to let it transform and see what the beetle was like. I had seen meal worm beetles before, so I thought it would be pretty much the same thing. Well anyway, it hatched into a glossy black beetle. I decided to pick it up, and when I touched it it released a very nasty smelling defensive fluid that stank up my tank and my room. Very different from a Meal Worm beetle. I feel sorry for the breeders who have huge colonies of them, that must smell horrible. Anyway, the tropical beetle ended up exploring the harsh Minnesota winter, heh heh.

Just thought it was an interesting story.
