paddle tail newt?

TwinKZ Dec 06, 2004 10:46 PM

i just bought 2 paddle tail newts a couple days ago. i did some research and i read that paddle tail newts have smooth skin. the pet store i got mine at had them labeled as paddle tail newts but they don't have smooth skin. the newts i got are about 5-6 inches, dark olive green skin with orange speckles on it's belly. it's skin is rough, and it's tail is flat. is it really a paddle tail newt?

The newts you are describing sound like one of the Paramesotriton species. I suggest checking some pictures of them out on livingunderworld.org
