Quarantine for Sliders?

catnipcutie Dec 06, 2004 11:25 PM

Hi again. Thanks a lt for everyone's help about my two headed slider. But now I have a new question. I know I'm probably being a pain. Sorry...

But I have a new Ultra Pastel slider that's coming in the morning. Should I quarantine it from the two headed and regular sliders? If so, how long should I do this for? Again, any help is very much appreciated.

it is ALWAYS a good idea to quarantine a new animal because of diseases and such... i have 'heard' that you should quarantine a new turtle for a few months to be sure there are no symptoms of disease. it would also be a good idea to have a herp vet check out a stool sample just to be SURE that your new little one is disease free!

Yes an absolute must. Many folks say between 6-9 months. If you get his stool checked by a vet and he parasite free I would wait at the very least 3 months or so to make sure all is well before putting him with your other animals.
