We would rather see an abcess than a septicemia.
One of my Dragons had a horrible swelling on his hip (actually this ine looks like neither a female or a male, pointy tail, but not dipped in at the waist) so I Called the vets for an appointment. THey could not fit me in for 4 days, so i took it upon myself to start with some baytril I had leftover (one tenth of a cc every other day)
When I finally took him to the vet (my new gf named him "Puff"
and the Dr was palpating the swelling and the skin cracked right there and he weas able to palapte out the yellow pasty puss that dragons get (he did numb it with tooth stuff)
He then rinced it with some saline and swabbed it with some provadine and gave a baytril shot.
Doc said that my giving him the PO (by mouth, or "per oral"
I had helped his body seal off the infection and may have been the difference between survival and not. I had also started a route f Pancure for the whole pack of dragons, and daily electrolites since they all seem off their food (except Tripod, but he get some anyway since the drops have Cacium Gluconate in them)
the sick dragon "puff" is hiding out under the water dish, and I am not sure if thats because its warm from the heat pad I have under there (to keep the water warm) or to find a place to die
You can guess which one I hope it is
I have also set up a fogger int he reptarium, because with the winter heat being on the humidity in the house is WAY down. and just misting rhe tank does not seem to be enough (it drops back down to 40% pretty dry for these guys)
I have it raised on a raised planter, so it mists down a bit.
we shall see
