dart frogs do not require any special lighting. they need only low light levels. the lights are mainly for the plants, thats where a full spectrum would be used.

Hi,

Full spectrum lighting will be benificial to both the frogs and the plants. Amphibians do not need uvb rays to survive in captivity like most diurnal reptiles do but small amounts of uvb rays seem to be increase egg clutches and often prompt frogs to breed. I think there used to be a short article about this at www.vivaria.nl under Peter's column or something along the lines of that.

I use zoo-med's reptisun 2.0 on my cages that have a screen section on top to allow uvb rays to pass through and I use zoo-med's tropic sun or hagen's life-glo for cages with full glass tops. Good luck,
