Question for Gila Breeders

JTK Dec 07, 2004 09:30 AM

Is it possible to produce baby gilas without cooling the adult animals? I know there are a lot of lizard breeders out there that cycle their animals without hybernation and I've heard rumor out there that it is possible with gilas! I know the key to producing gilas is to make the captive environment as "real" as possible to the wild, but can gilas be produced keeping them at summer temps with a rain type cycle? Thanks for any input!!

we have used basking lights throughout the winter cooling period, and we have seen females bask during parts of the day all winter long, with a cage temp range of 55F to 120F, and we have had successful hatchings from that, but we have not tried to do it with no cooling at all...
