is there ANY species of monitor that can be kept in a 55 gallon tank for the rest of its life?....

I had read somewhere that either ackies or timors could be kept in a minimum of 40 gallons, but that seems EXTREMELY small, even for a 24" reptile. Im new to monitors though so I could be wrong.
