Striped Milksnakes? Explain!

ZFelicien Dec 07, 2004 02:51 PM

Striped Milksnakes?
How does this work with milks?

If I breed a striped milks to another striped, will all/the majority be striped?

is it possible to produce a striped milksnake from a striped to normal pattern breeding, if yes will they be aberrantly pattern or fully striped,

Lastly if I were to breed a spotted/Bullseye Nelsoni (As opposed to a normal patterned Nelsoni) to a striped Nelsoni would I have a greater chance of getting striped hatchlings?

Thanx!

figure out this mess?

If you are talking about splotched siniloans then yes, bred together you will produce a whole clutch (they will vary a little as well)of striped milks?
Now if you were talking about another kind please explain?

If you breed a splotched siniloan to a bullseye chances are you will get a mixture of normals and bullseye patterned normals. They would all be het (since the splotched is simple recessive)for splotched.

I had a line of nelsoni that were striped and spotted that were co-dominat.Whatever I bred him to would produce mostley striped and spotted (aberrants as well).

Thanx Shannon, does that snake lack pigment in his/her tail?

Now, sinaloans/nelsoni was one of the subspecies I was referring to. The others are striped ruthveni, striped coastal plains, striped Mexican milks, striped/motley Hondurans, etc., are these traits genetic or do they come about as a result of something like temp. change.

Well the ruthveni and the temporalis have both been proven simple recessive. The annulata and my motley hondo haven't yet been proven either way.Its still very early in the game on some of this stuff.
