Regurgitation PROBLEM!!!!

ZFelicien Dec 07, 2004 02:58 PM

I have a pair of jungle corns that began regurgitating on a regular basis lately, for months now they been fine, and about 3weeks ago I noticed every time I feed them one of the two or both brought it back up within days. It's not heat because they have adequate heat, and the size of the prey isn't the issue either. so what could it be?

Sorry for the pic, just felt I had to post it.

Zenny are you still houseing them in the same container? If so, get them separated. And you said for 3 weeks? How long do you wait after they vomit when you feed them again? The general rule is wait 10 days, I usually wait more. And what are you feeding?
Feeding them too much when they are already on the regurge cycle is often detrimental. If one of mine regurges I wait 10 days or more then feed it something half the size of what it originally regurged. And if that goes well then the next feeding time I will feed normally.
If it was just one snake I wouldnt think much, but two worry me and I know you were keeping two together for a little while. Stress can definatly do that. But I am assuming you know that both snakes are doing it-- so maybe they arent together??
Good Luck.

Sarah, I've separated them a while ago... I wait 5-7 days to try and feed again so I guess I'll need to wait longer. I think it's been about 3weeks may be more may be less. other than that they look pretty ok... I'll hold off on feeding and see what results. I can't lose another snake.
Thanx

Might be totally unrelated, but I have a corn that will regurgitate if I don't take his water away for about 24 hours after feeding. Seems he's such a pig, if there's no more food, he'll drink 'til he upchucks. Once the feeding frenzy is over and he settles down, he's fine. I agree, wait for 10 days or so and start him back with a smaller meal. Good luck!

Thanx for the info your corn is "weird" lol ... they both seem fine I'll just have to wait and see what goes on next week.

I had a four month old corn that started regurging his f/t pinks about three days after feeding. I was told by a friend to wait at least a week and offer it only the head of a pink. If it kept it down I was told to offer it another mouse head a week later. After that you could resume feeding small pinks weekly and graduate the size of the pinks as long as the snake continues to hold down it's meals. This worked for me. Good luck.
