PLEASE HELP!! (kinda long)

kailin120288 Dec 07, 2004 05:30 PM

my beardie hasn't eaten in two days this morning she just sat there and watched them. Yesterday after noon she ate rel well. my main concern is that when i just came home from working out she was sitting in the cold side of her tank on the floor sleeping. Yesterday night we recieved one of those beardie hammocks and i took her little basking stick out. This morning she was sleeping on the hammock but when i came home it was laying on the tank floor and she looked like she was breathing real hard . She's just a baby so i dont think its brumination. Can you please help me out.

what are the temps in your tank? i found that if the temps are a little on the low end, they'll be pretty lazy. but, if you increase the temps to what they're supposed to be, then they'll be more active and awake. also, make sure you have a UVA light included in your set-up as it contributes to their physical activity and appetite.

don't take the basking branch out unless the hammock is directly under the basking light and is within 10" - 12" away from the light so the beardie can absorb both the UVA & UVB rays.

the hammock is in that range her temps are perfect. the uva bulb broke last night and thats when it started my mom just went to get a new one but it was to big and shes to lazy to go back out and get one so im screwed until tommorrow afternoon. she also seems like she cant get up on the hammock cause she gets down but then when i check back in there she was curled up on the tank floor im just really worried cause its my first dragon and i want everything to go good. thanks for responding cause no one else does.

well hopefully her activity & appetite increase once you get the UVA bulb tomorrow. let us know if she doesn't.

also, if she's having trouble getting up the hammock, leave the basking branch in the cage and keep it against the hammock - so she can climb the branch and get on & off the hammock easier. if she uses it to bask, make sure the hammock is within 10 - 12 inches of the light bulb or else she won't be absorbing the wavelengths and she'll still be kinda lazy.

good luck!

for everyone i put the branch up againest the hammock and i havent seen her on the hammock yet but i saw a recent fecal of hers on it and last night she was laying on the floor while the lights were still on and this morning when they came on she was still there so i put her on the hammock fed her and she ate good had a big apetite my mom forgot to get the uva bulb so were def getting it tonight and she is still acting kinda lazy but shes gotten better i soaked her in warm water for a little while and that seemed to help. temps-(basking) 105 tp 107 in that range cool side is 75 to 80 and thats it im feeding her crikets the size between her eyes so their babys and some romaine lettuce with strawberries and with all the suppliments i spray her two to three times a day and thats about it thanks

hi
i would sugest a fecal exame.
cost round the 10-15 $
it not cost must but atleast you know for shure if he/she is parasite free.
www.herpvetconnection.com
there you can find a vet if you not have any one asked him about if they need uvb/uva if he say yes then most of time you have a good vet

110 temp is needed to digest wel it sounds ok.
if he have a cooler side to hide then 110-115 on baskingspot is nice for young beardies.
i would sugest www.parazap.com i use it with very nice results read the website .

What exactly are the temperatures? aka - basking, ambient, cool side temps? How large of a cage, and what substrate? What are you feeding, and how large are the items compared to her head? How old is the dragon and how large?

I would definetly bring her to a vet just in case, along with a fecal (recent stool from within 24 hours preferably sooner) and see what they have to say. Make sure it is a certified HERP vet, as others may try to treat it but wont know what they are doing.

Make sure you update us on how she is!
