Various Auratus?

Scaley_Pimp Dec 07, 2004 07:37 PM

i have a five gallon right now that i house 2 green auratus. i'm in the process of making a 10 gal vert. after i finish i would like to get another frog, would it be ok to put a blue auratus in there, or would i be taking a chance that they may breed at some point?

Yes, a blue auratus will breed with your green and blacks, so I would not recommend mixing them. Additionally, auratus tend to be more terrestrial, and would enjoy the larger footprint of the 10 gallon if it is not set up as a vertical, but rather in the regular 10 gallon configuration.

I put four young blue auratus in a 10 gallon tank, but then decided to put them in two seperate 10 gallon tanks. In the upcoming months I am making a 30. I use regular 10 gallons because the D. auratus are more terrestrial than arboreal. A vertical tank will make the bottom (where they will mostly be) too crowded because they both will be in a small "ground" space. I would go with a normal 10 for the two frogs, they usually can be found at most stores for at most $10. The blues would breed with the greens, also. Good luck.
