Fantasy is a combo between ornata and cranwelli. The other one that you hear about once in a while is the nearly-mythical C. Aurita, the Brazilian horned frog. It grows the largest of the pacs, with females getting 9 inches or so. Before you ask where you can get one, I will tell you that you could probably find the holy grail before one of these on the market. VERY few come into the US each year, I have heard under 10 (because it is illegal to export them from Brazil I hear) make it in and I would imagine they could cost hundreds upon hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. 'Course that last part is just a wild guess but I would imagine a large wild-caught female would go for quite a bit of $

Are you positive? I could swear that I read it was ornata and cranwelli...ah maybe old age is catching up to me.

amazinglyricist below says it is considered a cross between any of the pacmans. The only ones I have ever seen have been crossed with cornuta, they at least look a little different. I mean if you were to cross an ornate with a cran, would you really be able to tell the difference? I have a hard time telling the difference between the two as it is. To me it would look just like a plain old everyday pacman.

the only real diffrance is the coloring in the frog if you cross a cran and orn

needaurita Dec 08, 2004 01:52 AM

Oh and the scientific name for the fantasys are usually cranwelli x ornata or ornata x cranwelli depending on which one was the male and which was the female. Hope that helps.

1.Ceratophrys Cranwelli (Cranwells Hornedfrog)
2.Ceratophrys Ornata (Ornate Hornedfrog)
3.Ceratophrys Calcarata (Colubian Hornedfrog)
5.Ceratophrys Cornuta (Amazonian Hornedfrog)
6.Ceratophrys Aurita (Brazilian Hornedfrog)
7.Ceratophrys Joazeirensis (Barely even herad of this species)
8.Ceratophrys Testudo (Barely even herad of this species)

There may be a few more but these are the ones I know, and I just found out that there was a Ceratophrys Testudo.

I've heard that fantasy frogs could be either of the two species. But they look more like Cornuta than any of the other common ones though.

i thought you got a fantasy when you crossed a cran and a orn with one being albino or some crap

amazinglyricist Dec 10, 2004 12:17 AM

The fantasy horned frog can be a mix between 2 of the 3, ornata
cornuta or cranwelli, there's 3 possible combinations between them, and if you could ever get one of the other horned frogs species and get them to breed with any of the above it would be a fantasy frog as well, I belive they are also sterile, so breeding all of the species into one would be impossible.

I also herd that there sterile but ive never seen any proof to support it.. It could be a myth or it could be true
