A Good Starter Snake?

Ses01 Dec 07, 2004 11:42 PM

Hi. I was wondering what is a good starter Ball? A Male or female? Which is more docile? Also, any particular breeds I should watch out for? Anyone know any reputable breeders I can get a nice CB ball from? Please let me know. Thanks a lot every body.

Even though I'm working with a very small collection and plan on keeping it that way for a while, I put a great deal of thought into your post and I see it like this, P. Regius seem to be alot like us humans, the females as far as I've seen, seem to have the temper. Out of almost 100 hatchlings, 9 out of 10 times its the girls that freak out and swing/strike........

Thanks a lot everyone! I got the email and will be contacting them directly. So females tend to be more aggressive?

females may be a bit more tempermental as babies. I've sort of found that to be true... As they get older, female and males are both equally sweet with proper care.

There are advantages to buying a female normal as a pet. It will appreciate in value over its lifetime. Which may not interest you, but if you ever need to sell, it's nice to know there will be a demand.

Sorry for the poor puncuation, I was a little tired when I pecked that out.

And the above is very true, as they age they all seem to mellow out.

I have another question. If they do mellow out over time, about how long would you say? Also, which one gets bigger, male or female? Thanks.

it doesn't take a bitey baby very long to mellow out if you're patient and give it personal attention, i'd say a month or two. Females tend to get somewhat larger, but not really significant enough to base your decision on that.
