My girlfriend is getting me two hatchling sulcatas, well actually two if they are happier together do they like a companion?? or should i stick with one?? I have a russian box tortoise and an alligator snapper. I have been studying the care of sulcatas and i understand most of everything except what to feed. I know that they eat mostly grass and clovers. I feed my russian tortoise lettuce carrots and just any fruit and vegetable i have but from what i have read the sulcatas diet is a little more strict. What are some good vegetables and things i could feed her around the hosue. If anyone has any information they could help me with it would be great thank you. Ryan

I recommend going to turtlecafe.com. They have a lot of food supplies for Sulcatas. They also sell a great book called African Spurred Tortoise in captivity. If it's out of stock, there are other plces on the web to find it. It has a lot of great info in it!
If you look up what to feed a Sulcata on the web, you'll end up finding a ton of contridicting info. But one consistency is that Sulcatas need is grass, hay and leafy greens. Turtle Cafe has some great seed mixes that my tortoises love!
I give vegetables from a frozen bagged mix once in a while too. You can get that kind of thing from the frozen foods section in any store, just thaw it out before you feed it. But make sure fruits are kept only as occasional treats! Supplements are important too!
