got my dums probed today

MISKIE Dec 08, 2004 11:34 AM

well i just got back from the vet and they probed the two new ones and well come to find out that they are both females srewed on that one because i was told that they were a male and a female i'm trying to get ahold of the one i got them from and then go from there. i should have had him probe them when i got them so i guess it was my fault also so know i have 3 females and no males. so i guess that screwes up my planes of breeding in a couple of years because my husband said to more snakes. because we have 4 in he house already.

thanks for reading

You can run a add in the Classified's, here on Kingsnake.com and trade one of your Female's for a Male. You might find someone, but I would contact the Breeder/Dealer you got your pair from and see if you can get a Male ! ! Good Luck ! & Take Care !
Have A Good One ! !

To double check the vet! If you find spurs, you do have a male, if no spurs, you have females. I've seen people that supposedly "know what they're doing" screw up trying to probe dumerils. I've also had people "pop" dumerils for me at shows, tell me it was a female, then hand me a spur toten male. Over 30 dumerils in my collection, with many others that have come and gone....Never have I had a male w/o spurs, or a female with spurs. I sex my baby dumerils while pulling them from the mothers cage just by looking for the spurs. They can be hard to find at birth due to size, but if you look hard enough you'll find them. I hope for your sake the vet was wrong....it would NOT be the first time someone got bad info from a vet-LOL! Take care
