question about watering.. and another about panthers....

xNeViNx Dec 08, 2004 04:47 PM

hi every, ill be getting my first panther in jan. i had a vailed befor. so i know all the basics of chameleon keeping. although it didnt end very well, he turned out to be farm breed, and i didnt know it. this time im going with a panther from a local breeder. but i would like to know if there is anything any of you would like to tell befor i get one, i mean, just those little things that only true keepers could tell me. my water question is about airstone bowls. have any of you herd of or tryed these befor? there water bowls with aquarium air stones in them to make bubbles, and make the water move. if i put this about mid way up in the cage, would the cham drink from it?
thanx alot

you can do that yes. a driper would be easier though. also its not a good idea to have a bowl of water if you get a small baby as they could fall in. babies do well with misting a few times a day

ok, thank you. i tryed the hole dripper thing with my vailed and i found it to be a big pain, so i thought id try something diffrent. but thanx for telling me about misting them, ill just do that till hes a lil bigger.

Hey Nevin,

I see you on the users forum all the time. Glad to see you made your way down here. If you have kept a veiled before, a panther will be nothing new. Check out this article that outlines the care requirements of panther chameleons. Many caresheets go into general care, but this article concentrates on just panthers.

i would consider an automatic mister. its made a huge difference for me, not having to mist the cage 3 times a day. i think brand new mr. moistures are around $100. good luck!
