Western Diamondback info....

A friend of mine gave me a young venomoid (sp?) female. She is only about a foot long and I have her in a shoebox rack right now. Around 88F-90F on the heat tape. I have a half a pvc pipe hide, a cool whip container with some humid coconut husk and a water bowl. She once in a blue moon uses the hides. Have been feeding her every 4-5 days or so, always takes it after I leave the room. Anyway just look for some basic advice/care sheets. Oh I was told to try and keep them off paper because they can develope sores? Any truth to this? Thanks.

WDB are pretty undemanding in my experience. Sounds like you have it under control, but perhaps you could have it a bit warmer on the heat side as long as the cool side is below 80. Paper substrate should not be a problem as long as it is very dry. I use calci-sand only because it looks cool with my dog skull and fake cactus decoration. It also helps when I whistle the theme song to "Good, Bad and the Ugly"!

Yes, don't forget the theme from the good, the bad & the ugly. Many western species thrive when regaled with this classic opus.
