How's everyone doing? Long time no post...

Dr_Big_J Jul 02, 2003 10:18 AM

Hey all,

I have been preoccuppied with my med stuff the last couple of months and have been pretty busy. I actually tried to post a few times to say hi, but the login for my screen name wasn't working so I finally got around to creating a new email to post.

I just wanted to see how everyone was doing. My animals are all doing stellar - Still as smelly as ever. I actually have to figure out if I am going to slim down my collection, because I am moving to the east coast (looks like Philly). I am going to miss west coast herping.

Anyway, my best to A.C., Dean, Doug, Carl, Fred, Dan F, Gila, Steve Binnig, bob, regal, eric, Chris, Rob, Thane and any others I may have forgot.

Hope all is well.

Well...this year was not too good for babies,
I was lucky with yt's and one clutch of Texans...but got skunked on easterns. THere seems to be a lot of bad luck going aroung with breeding this year.

I'm going into a slimming down the collection mode too...

My large female laid a bad clutch and retained a few eggs becoming egg bound. After aspirating the eggs, she eventually passed them and became none the worse for the wear.

Congrats on the YT's and Texans. Any other important developments I missed? Have you been back out west lately? I'll be out west for another month and a half doing as much herping as possible during my vacation before moving to what looks like as Philly. If you manage to find your way out here, look me up - we'll have to get a beer (or a few) and find some critters.

Anyway, I am going to need some new herping partners out east - I haven't been able to contact Steve Binnig who is out there. Has he been posting? Do you know of any others around in that general area?

Best regards and thanks.

don't worry dr. j, i'll show you around. i know where all the good bars are anyway. as for herping, we can go over to steve's or rick's houses. they live literally 5 minutes away and has some really cool stuff. they know where the better bars are too. LOL! we'll help get you thru the transistion......good luck!

Dr_Big_J Jul 02, 2003 01:59 PM

that I am going to go into herp withdraws. Do you guys head to the Pine Barrens much? We'll all have to get out there.

As for the bars, they are going to be in trouble now... I forgot you were around that area. Good Stuff!

we got snakes galore here......let us know when you get in town and we'll show you around. fyi.....we have hot summers and generally mild winters cause we're on the coast. it's probably better here climate wise than you may think or have heard. bring your golf clubs.....and some money!! LOL!

There are a few shows out here (actually) it just got better this last yr. b/c there is the NARBC show a few miles from Philly in Nov. I like Drymocs. but so far I don't own any. I'm thinking about acquiring D.C. couperi female that I saw at a recent show but didn't know if $700.00 was a good price for her. I mainly have monitors & lampropeltis. I do have an elaphe O.Obseleta & 2 turtles also. give me an email.

Big J-
Welcome back! Ive been layin low as of late too...just a LOT of stuff going on for me right now.

As for your move to Philly, you have to be initiated into the NorthEast Dry Keepers Union (NEDKU). There's a few of us up here like Dean Dan, Bob, SB and more. I can't get into details but it involves windsprinting in the Philly Zoo lion pen wearing a fur coat... haha

I'm over here in NJ...so I'm in the barrens a lot...this year's been real bad for me as far as time goes, but hopefully next year...I still owe Dannio a guided tour of some of my stops

Good luck

A.C.

Dr_Big_J Jul 03, 2003 11:19 AM

LOL! I will be harassing you for a tour of the Pine Barrens. Have a good one.

I was just emailing Steve Emerick, chatting about the indigos and I asked him how you were doing, what you were up to. He mentioned you wereleaving the West Coast and heading east for Med School.

I'm sure Dannio and Company will help keep your herp hobby up to speed, at least as much as your studies will allow.

I'm sure you'll do fine in Philly too. They speak a rudimentary form of English that isn't too hard to understand after a while. I'm sure Steve Binning can help you find a Polar Bear Parka to get you through the winters. They accept US Dollars there. I hear the water spins the opposite way when you flush the toilet. That'll be weird.

I'm sure you'll love it.

I am not sure what will happen to my affiliate and partner in crime over here. I was supposed to help him with the Daytona show, but am not sure now.

This Philly thing is scaring me. I don't know if I can fight off the Polar Bears over there. Oh well, I guess the eskimos over there will have to teach me.

Anyway, good to hear from you.

Mega-dittos & congratulations; that degree is quite the achievement. What a wonderful opportunity to do good.
I humbly submit, your cyber-buddies must deserve much [most?] of the credit....errr...somehow!
Perhaps your first specialty needs to be a guardian gynecologist, seems alot of the dark ladies this year let us down. Speaking of dark thangs...did you hear DT & I managed to finally collide w/ a group of neonate Clelia? We've got 1.2 between us, some other blokes, as yet unknown, managed to latch on to another 5!
Vaya con suerte (go w/ luck) rr

From the west coast to Philly....shouldn't it be the other way around?...just kidding Philly people (I hear its really a great place). Med school eh? Congrats! I am beginning my PhD program this fall so I will be feeling your pain. Best of luck with your move.
