lip crud

antares Dec 09, 2004 01:30 AM

My dragon has this odd brown/reddish crud around his mouth that comes and goes everyday. It will look bad in part of the day, get better, then get worse again. I took him to the vet a while ago and they gave me some cream for it which didn't seem to do much good. It doesn't get in the way of his eating. Sometimes he rubs his face on the glass but I think that's just him trying to shed, not sure.

Does anyone know what this is? Is there anything I can do for it or should he go back to the vet? Thanks.

I'd run him back through the vet if it was me. I'm not sure what it is. Does he have excess mucous in the mouth? Possible RI???

Mouth rot typically looks like 'cheeze' in the mouth as well as alot of extra mucus.

What are you feeding the dragon and what is his substrate?

I feed him a variety of dusted crickets, worms, fruits, and vegetables. He is kept on paper towels as a substrate.

There isn't any mucous, it looks more scabby then anything.

maybe its the fruits?

my beardie's lips and chin were a bit red off and on - then i eventually found out that it was from the raspberries that he loves so much
