mice vs. rats...

mattcbiker Dec 09, 2004 02:51 AM

Any reason for discussion of any concerns here?
Just placed an order of mice and rats online and I plan on switching my bull from fuzzies to rat pups when she is ready. Rat pups are probably about the size of a very small adult mouse or a "weaned". I worry that they may be too fatty to be fed for a few months before she's ready for small adult mice. Would that be a bad thing as long as my bull does not get fat?

Thanks! - Matt

While nutritional analysis comparisons, between mice and rats, have demonstrated only minute differences, all of my Pituophis seem to incur better growth on a diet of rats, though I include quail and eggs for variety.
I have noticed the same results with my Drymarchon as well, though their diet is considerably more varied..
