hello everyone, I have a male jackson 1 year old and am getting cb female about the same age. I would like to breed and was wondering how long I should wait on introducing the two? should I wait to acclimate her to her new home? any info would be appreciated thanks Matt

Yes, I would let her get used to her surrondings before doing it. Hopefully it's not too late, I believe mine bred around 8-9 months old. Just keep attempting him into her cage and pretty soon that should be making sweet lovn...

Hi Matt,

Whenever I get a new chameleon, I keep it in quarantine for
a minimum of 6 weeks in another area of the house...far away from
any others that I have...especially if its wild caught. They
can often bring in germs that they can pass to whatever
chameleons you already have and spread.

As for mating chameleons, I always show the female to the male by
holding her on a branch outside his cage. That way they can both
look each other over but not attack each other if the female is
not receptive or if the male mistakes her at first for a male.

If the female is receptive, she should be calm and may move
slowly away from male and may almost look like she is hugging
the branch. If she behaves this way then she can be put into
the male's cage...but continue to watch them until you are
sure that things are okay.

If she is hissing, gaping, swaying from side to side, lunging
towards the male, then she's not receptive and should be put
back into her own cage and try again in a few days.

If the male shows aggressive behavior, and doesn't calm down,
then I put the female back in her cage.

Once the two have mated, and the female is rejecting the male
(see non-receptive behavior above) I remove the female and put
her back into her own cage.

Hope this helps!
