It took a while to absorb this heated debate and wade through the who-haw. However, I think in now appears that rather than simply arguing, a good point of discussion has been raised. I have a St Pierre blue and would be more than willing to fully document it with my camera if you wish. Just tell me what shots to snap and I will get some photos for you. My blue is also above average in size so everything is a little bigger on this fat boy. Tell me what you need, this is interesting to me and I would love to know more.

Thank you for chipping in. A good close up of the top of the head, the side of the head, and the underside of the head would be great. As well as the femoral pores, close ups (extreme if possible) of the undersides of the right foot and hand. And if you are willing to do scale counts on the body as outlined in the chart from Manzani & Abe, that would be terrific.
Again, thank you for chipping in to this debate, we need all the DATA input we can get.

I also have several Blues, several Black and Whites, a pair of young Reds, and a couple of rescue Columbians. I'd be more than happy to supply photos and do some scale counts when I have the chance. I've seen some differences in coloration and pattern in the Blues that we have here. I've always been of the opinion that the Blues were more similar in appearance and temperament to the marianae.

Here are some of our existing photos to get you started.

Felix at 3 years, Argentine B/W, St. Pierre breeding

Newly hatched Blue Tegu, 24hrs old, our breeding

Head shot of Flora, purchased as a "platinum Blue Tegu"

Top head shot of Flora

Crappy old head shot of Blue and B/W together

Head shot of young Albino and Blue Tegu

Head shot of T. tequixin

I will make an effort in the next couple of days to get pelvic and femoral shots of these animals as well as shots of the underside of the head. Is there anything else that could be useful?

I always see you pop up on different forums showing your lizards. Seems you have a wide variety of different animals in your collection. You need to get a website (or do you have one) and show us all your animals. I would love to see them.

We do rescue and rehabilitation, plus adoption services, so we never know what is coming in. Personally, I keep Tegus, 3 species of Cyclura Iguanas, 4 species of Spinytail Iguanas, Forest Chameleons, Egytpian Uros, a Blackthroat Monitor, and Black Roughneck Monitors for my own enjoyment. We have, as rescues, Bearded Dragons, Frilled Lizards, Savs, a Nile, a Water Monitor, lots of Green Iguanas, Leopard Gex, Uromastyx, etc, and I housed an 8 foot Croc Monitor here for a while. I won't even start listing the snakes but we have everything here from normal Corns to a 14 foot female Tiger Retic. I'll even house crocodilians temporarily as long as my resource can take them off my hands in a timely manner. Whatever is in need, we try to help out.

It's an example of how common names can be merely pulled from a hat. Common names are not governed by any group. Therefore, as the name applies, a 'common' name is the name 'commonly' used for the creature in question by those who either don't know the scientific/latin name or people in the pet trade who know an easier sounding name will sell more of the pets.

Hey, I'm excited to get somewhere on this issue too.

I have two blues and a dyed in the wool merianae who will let me examine them. I will try to get counts this weekend.
