Normal, healthy stools!!! YAY!!!

Starling Jul 02, 2003 10:56 AM

Woo hoo, it's amazing how happy poop can make you when you've had sick geckos. So my gecko that started recieving the oral antibiotic Friday night has now had two normal, healthy stools and from the size of them (and watching her go after her mealies!)-is catching up for lost weight now! Her tail even looks a tad fuller. This is despite the fact for the first three days I was administering once a day instead of two, til I noticed on the prescription on the front it was supposed to be 2x a day. DOH! Still seemed to work though.

Started giving all affected geckos the antibiotic Monday, hoping to see more normal stools from them beginning today or tomorrow. I am going on vacation next week and have a full time housesitter I will be training in the basics of leo care, egg collecting and incubation monitoring, but I am very relieved it looks like the geckos will be healthy before I leave, and I will have time to thoughougly sterilize all the enclosures a couple of times before I go. I would have a hard time enjoying my trip if my leos were still sick, I would be worried.

I think I will get some live pinkies today, see if my little recovering patient will go for one of those.

wooo hooo. I am happy to hear that. I am starting to give me albino some albon since she was placed for about 1 week with my leo that had coccidia. Since I began to give her, her treatment she hasnt really ate is that normal? Well any how. Congratulations, and good luck.

Sorry, I am afraid I just don't know. I have never had animals w/ coccidia or given Albon, but maybe someone else here on the forum can tell you what their geckos did on it. With this bacterial infection I have noticed the opposite, appetite has come back very dramatically after 3 days of treatment or so.
