Need help with Woma...

mr_slithers Jul 02, 2003 10:56 AM

Hi,

I have a three year old male woma [48"] that has stopped eating as of about 2 months ago. He has shed twice in this time and is extremely active. I have him in a standard 48" 55 gallon aquarium with sub-surface heating on one side, hide box on each side, and newspaper susbstrate. I have had him since he was about a month old and in this time he has NEVER seen a live rodent nor has he missed a meal. He has ALWAYS eaten F/T like there was no tomorrow. Any ideas about whats up? My vet seems to think that he is looking to breed and could care less about food at this time. I really want him to feed and am willing to try anything.

Thanks for the help,

J

If it's any consolation for you both mine are off feed too. I was overfeeding them a bit......so the guy who sold them to me said after he saw recent pics. But mine are very active too, but I feel they are just a bit too young for now. I am just watching thier body weight and making sure they drink water. I am wondering if they're in breeding mode too. c ya Tom

How weird is this? It must be something seasonal!?!?
My large male hasn't eaten in a couple of months, I was starting to get really worried! Was going to run him to the vet tomorrow, I have tried to feed him everything, live/thawed rats, mice, chicks, and a Rosy Boa I didn't like, no mas

Thanks for the info, hopefully someone can shed some light on this...

Well it makes me feel better that other woma owners are experiencing the same problems. Not that I like the fact your snakes are off feed, just that it makes more sense now. He is just such an aggressive feeder that it bothers me a little. These are some great snakes though. Never once a bite and only halway struck at me once because I scared him. Super mellow. If you take yours to the vet share the info would you please.

Thanks guys!

J
