The mystery of the yellow droplets

am_nesia Dec 09, 2004 11:28 AM

Hi everyone

Noticed something strange today and was wondering if anyone had any idea on what the cause may be and whether its something to worry about.

Recently adopted a 4yr old iggy from a friend who was no longer able to look after him. Had him checked out a week ago by the vet and he seems to be pretty healthy. Now this evening we noticed some droplets of yellow liquid seeminly forming on the side of his tail about three quarters of the way up. Wiped it away and 10 minutes later there was another droplet in exactly the same place. Since then has been no more. There are no breaks in the skin and he doesn't seem to have picked the liquid up from anywhere within his enclosure.

Any ideas?

Was it like a sappy kind of yellow liquid? I've seen a problem that happens to an iguana's scales where a yellow sappy liquid kinda glazes over it when they don't shed properly.
