i could not get a thermostat for the uth so i decided to try highering the tank and laying the heater under yet off the tank itself....right now the floor temp is between 90 and 95....think this may still be a lil high, anyone tell me if it is or not...thanks all....

I'm thinking 90 - 95 deg. F. is too hot, especially if it's the whole tank and it can't get away to an alternative hide on a cool end. Have you checked for mail order thermostats at Big Apple or the like? Even a rheostat from a local hardware store would be better than nothing.

That's good... we keep our hot spots in our racks about 95F and the animal can thermoregulate between the hot and cool sides.

Good luck...

the temp of between 90 and 95 is only on one side of the enclosure not the whole tank....but that is the floor temp where his hide box is over, i put the thermometer on the floor to test the temp before i am going to put the hide box back over that area....do you think he'll get burned again there? i'm jus conserned cuz he got burned once by it already...

We have a strip of heat tape running underneath the bottom of each box in the rear. The temp on the floor of the box directly over the heat is maintained at 95-98F by a Helix thermostat. We have never had any burn problems with this. We find many Ball Pythons push the bedding away to sit directly on the heated spot for short periods of time.

I'm sure everything will be fine with that set-up!

Take it easy...

What Steve and I use to do before we invested in rheostats and thermostats was we would take cut some wood which was the right size and stick it between the UTH and the glass bottom of the tank.. That works really well for us and it was easy to add more wood or subtract wood to make it hotter or cooler... also One of our best investments was a temp gun to help us with those spot temperatures all over the tank. I hope this is of some help to you...

Sincerely,
Rose & Steve

what i did was...put the tank up on wood about 4 inch's from the table it's on...then made a spot to put the uth on a piece of plexiglass that is laying between the desk and the tank...but not touching either and the temp right above the uth is around 90 to 95....i touched it n it jus felt warm, didn't burn, but not sure if it will harm him again or not...want to make sure before i put the hide back over that area....thanks
