O.T, What type of music does everyone like the most?..more.

dmac Dec 09, 2004 04:40 PM

The post earlier about the former Pantera guitarist who was gunned down on stage got me thinking, a lot of posts I've noticed have some quote from Megadeath or Ozzy at the bottom. Are the majority of us "snake enthusiasts" rockers? Country music fans? Reggae-Pop-Hip Hop-Jazz-Rap-rock, which is it? Let's see if "We" fit a pattern, or are we from all diversity (musically.) What music are you most likely to listen to when you are ALONE? Personally, I like rock (Darrell, you will be missed.) What does everyone say?

I was born and raised in Texas, and grew up listening to, and dancing to, country music. Some of my fondest memories are of dancing the night away in those huge Texas honky-tonks....the two-step, country waltzes, the cowboy polka.....(sigh). I still love traditional country, but this new X-over crap I hate!! Although he was before my time, my heart belongs to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys....."Waltz Across Texas", and "The Rose of San Antone"......I can hear them now.....

Now I'm home sick (again) for my LoneStar home. Maybe a little Andrea Bocelli will help lighten my heart again

Party with some hip-hop, chill with some R&B and for the young ladies take it down with some slow jams.

OK, I don't post in here much because I have yet to acquire my first boa, couldn't give it a proper home right now. Have to throw the curve for music here though. I love reptiles and I love opera. Don't know how my rose hair feels about all those high sopranos but she hasn't died or tried to get out of her habitat for over 4 years now.

dare I say it? Snakes. (And the only way I can determine that is because if I had to choose, I would have to give up snakes before I would never listen to music again.) I will give my input on this post. My musical preference is hip hop and metal, or to sum it up, anything rough. I was talking to a guy the other night with the same opinion. We agreed that the best description is "Anything that makes you feel something". I have to agree with some other posts, country music is horrible. If country music is playing somewhere, I have to leave. It's just sad stuff. And disturbing that people can listen to it. Anyway, I have always loved metal but never really a big fan of Pantera. But I am very familiar with them and when I read that this morning about Darryl, it made me feel something too. That really sucks that you can't even go to a concert without some moron killing the guy you're watching. And now he's dead himself. It was so pointless. So anyway, cool question. That's my opinion. Ryan.

I have to say whaling songs are my favorite type of music.

BackBeat Dec 10, 2004 07:04 AM

I naturally get off on drums and guitars. So anything from 70s rock to new alternative rock to metal works for me.

Now, for the 3 types of music i DESPISE:

Rap AKA cRap : music made on computers and beat machines and stuffed full of 'hooks' simply to sell copies. Don't even get me started on sampling. LOL Adding insult to injury, 99% of the rap beats *could* be played on a drumkit...

R&B: Whiny, whiny, whiny. The 'check-out-my-vocal-range-as-i-breath-heavy-into-the-mic' just doesnt do it for me. Oh, and a fair bit of it is computer-produced as well.

Country: This side of France, country music is the world's largest 'whine' producer. I'll give credit to them for atleast composing the songs on instruments. BUT, I gotta take the credit back when I remember that 99% of 'country crooners' dont even right their own songs. (Which puts them in the same category as boy bands and 'pop tarts.')

Maybe I'm just a stubborn musician, but I dont believe I'll ever warm up to the 3 types of music listed above. ICK.

Just 2 cents from a drummer...

BB

PS: What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?...........HOMELESS!

I was raised in the 70's so rock and roll and hard rock was the staple for me. I also like country music and some classical. I am a guitarist(hobby for personal pleasure), and givin one choice, I will play Satriani...Go Joe, that man can play! Course I can't stand his new stuff, That seems to always happen, but his older stuff is incredible. Dimebag could rock too. Take care Andy
