i'm not sure exactly what the time frame is...but i've had mine a lil over two months n he's shed twice already...might be because mine is bigger...but i'm sure one of the experts on here will give ya a more accurate answer....

Normally they shed every two months (don't look at a week difference). When they are growing fast they shed more often. My oldest BP shed exactly every two months. But the last time he shed already after 6 weeks. But he has been growing very hard so it's not strange. My baby BP only she once since I have her so I don't know yet what her shedding-cycle is.

I got my baby on 5/21/03, and he shed once on 6/8, which came off in pieces, and he just shed again on 6/30, this time it came off perfectly.
Only 22 days in between. Seemed pretty close together, my corn is around 5 weeks between sheds.
I don't think I am over-feeding the BP....he gets 1 adult mouse every 5 days, or I'll give him 2 mice if they are pretty small.

Mites can cause snakes to shed more often. If your snake sheds so close together it can be good to check him/her on mites.

Very interesting that you brought that up! I'm glad you did, because I forgot to mention that. When I brought him home, I didn't notice any mites on him. After a few weeks or so, I noticed a few on my hand after I held him, and he started to soak a little each day, and there were a few mites in the water. I used Provent-a-Mite. A couple of days after that he started to get 'dull' looking, and then he shed. I didn't notice any mites on him yesterday, so I hope I caught it before it became a major infestaion.

Anyways, I wasn't aware that mites sometimes cause them to shed more often, but I would be willing to bet that is what it was.

Thank you!

Vic
