Feeding Beardies in Separate Container

britbiker Dec 10, 2004 10:52 AM

I want to start feeding my beardies in a separate container from their main cage for cleanliness and to avoid having left-over crickets bothering them. Last night I took them out and put them in a plastic sweater box to eat (the kind of box typically used for snakes, that is, with air holes). they took a few nibbles, but then seem to become preoccupied with getting out. In any event, all they did was go stand on their hind-legs in one corner as if desperate to escape. Any suggestions on the best way to feed in a separate container?
Thanks.

Well, I've got several I feed live protien outside of their cage simply because I would have roaches loose all over the house. I use a rather large container with vasoline around the edges so the roaches will not get out. I think you just need to try it a few more times and you'll be sucessful. Most dragons that I put in the feeding box go balistic and aggressivly eat 3 and 4 roachesat atime, and newer dragons seem hesitant at first, but usually come around after a couple of days. If they are hungry they will eat!

I used to do this too, and now I feed silkworms. I will never go back to crickets! I can't believe some people find that "loose cricket, incessant chirping" at night soothing! LOL!
